Chiredzi- All private media reporters in the Lowveld district have today (Friday) been denied access to a Ministrial meeting with sugarcane farmers held at Triangle Country club with only the state media allowed inside.
Freelancers, TellZim and Masvingo Mirror journalists were denied access to cover the event as they were told they were not on the list of guests but only ZBC gained entrance.
A host of Ministers including July Moyo, Ezra Chadzamira, Anxious Masuka and deputy Minister Clemence Chiduwa were all present at the meeting to respond to the challenges being faced by sugarcane farmers.
Other members of the parliament for the Chiredzi District were all present and these included Roy Bhila (Chiredzi North), Farai Musikavanhu (Chiredzi West), Denford Masiya (Chiredzi East), Calisto Gwanetsa (Chiredzi South), Aliginia Samson (proportional representative).
The state of democracy in Zimbabwe remains under threat, as evident in the selective nature of the media to cover certain stories.
