Honey is sweet, but harvesting it and finally taking it home can be torrid and disastrous.
This is the fate of two Zaka men, whose names are yet to be identified.
The two are yet to be recovered from the deep of Manjirenji dam, where they drowned last night on their way from honey harvesting across the dam.
Masvingo Provincial Police Spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Kudakwashe Dhehwa confirmed the disaster, but said he was out of the office to give finer details.
Our privy sources however, told Lowveld Checkpoint that the two used a boat to cross to the other side of the dam where they harvested the sweet bees meal during the night.
On their way back, there was a heavy tide in the dam that forced their boat to capsize.
Immediate efforts to rescue the duo was in vain, and hopes are now pinned on the ZRP Sub Aqua team to do the search.
“I can confirm the incident but unfortunately i don’t have all the information on my finger tips because I am currently out of the office”, Assistant Inspector Dhehwa said.
….This is a developing story. More to follow.
