The suspected character assassin, ‘Boss Matande’, real name Alone Matande, was tracked and picked up by police and Potraz security yesterday at Blue Roof, old Rank.
The money changers tried to outpaced police after they ambushed him at his trading place, one roof, but failed to escape.
He was cornered and arrested at Masiza Nengere, in a dramatic Hollywood chase style.
Matande will appear in court tommorrow, facing a litany of charges, including contravening the newly gazzetted Cyber law.
He is facing a charge of theatening one Mrs Bere, and also pretending to be a mole in the name of Charles Njopera.
He is the first to face the wrath of the new law, which forbids posting of offensive pictures or information on social media, among other related sections that includes, inciting violence,posting nude, and false information on social media.
He is allege to be the one behind character assassinating information on social media, where he blackmailed some politicians by identifying them with cultisism and satanism.
Some of the politicians who suffered such bad publicity are Ward 4 Cllr Liberty Macharaga, Ward 3’s Ropafadzo Makumire, Charles Njopera, Obert Ngwenya and Chiredzi West MP Farai Musikavanhu.
Ironically, the Chiredzi community suspects he is part of the occult world.
For reasons still under investigations, he would pick a picture of his target, edit by inscripting damaging information on the image, before uploading it on social media.
One of the affected politicians reported the matter to Police, that activated Potraz to put the offender’s mobile phone on the radar for a week.
Matande was picked up unsuspecting,at Blue Roof, close to day end yesterday. He is currently at Chiredzi Police.
Matande is not new to controversy. Early this year, he trended, after going for some days buying ice cream to anyone closer to it.
This episode was followed by his arrest, after he tried to bride a traffic Cop who had arrested him for driving without a license.
The zenith of it all was his failure to pay $100 fine and this failure made him to stay in prison for a week.
He told many locals here,that he got his money from Gold since he was a Gold dealer in South Africa where he came back from last year. Many however, doubt him and have got their own version.
Matande is believed to be a conduit of Zanu pf political party faction, that is resorting to social media in fighting for a political space.
