CHIREDZI-Member of Parliament for Chiredzi West constituency Farai Musikavanhu, once again received a barrage of criticism from the public this week after he erected a 5000 litre water tank at the District Heroes Acre situated at Chitsanga hill.

Those who commented on the issue to Lowveld CheckPoint questioned the legislator’s priority to supply water at the shrine which is seldom used instead of prioritising dry areas in the town.
Some of the dry areas where there have been dry tapes for decades includes streets in Magwaza, Makondo and Joiner
Chiredzi Residents and Ratepayers Association (CHRRA)Organising secretary Jonathan Mpamombe said while the Mp has a right to make his own decisions on how to use his personal investments, it is wise and important that he put his minds on priority.
“The Mp donated that tank from his personal money but I think it is important for him to look into areas which need urgent attention. The issue of water, particularly in ward 5 is a hot issue that any serious politician must address” Mpamombe said.
Musikavanhu donated the water storage tank through his business entity Puwevhu enterprises and as usual, went trending on social media.
His posts did not receive savoury response from readers, particularly those in Chiredzi’s worst affected areas.
The MP told this publication that he is seized with a lot of developmental projects in the constituency that includes out laying rural wards that also needs his attention.
He said any of his choices that he makes to develop an area is open to critics since people have different opinions.
“What people need to know is that there is a lot of developmental work that needs to be done in the constituency and can not be done once.
Our Heroes Acre is ours and needs upgrading just like any other areas and working on it can not be a misplaced priority” he said.
He also said apart from the Heroes Acre, he had since sunk 7 boreholes in the constituency and also face lifted a Police Post all from his own resources but has been receiving negative comments on the projects.
“The thing is as people we have different views on what needs to be done in the constituency but our people must appreciate the little that has been done.
Zimbabwe is set to commemorate Heroes day next month and the MP said he is face lifting the shrine in preparation of the event.
Chiredzi District Heroes Acre, as compared to other shrines in the Province, has been in a sorry state for years.
