A Chiredzi man is battling for his life after he was stoned and fell unconscious at Uswaushava business centre by another man who claimed that he owes him R10.
Pfumburai Mashora,was arrested buyTriangle police and arraigned before Chiredzi Magistrate Court on Friday last week facing charges of attempted murder and Greavious bodily harm,after he stoned Kufazvinei Muhlarera(53) last week.
Muhlarera alleged that his attacker came demanding R10 from him,which the accused claimed that he borrowed him.
The complainant claimed that when I tried to sort clarification as to when he borrowed the money from the accused but failed to get the answer,he asked his wife to sell some airtime so that he can pay the accused the money.
After the wife got the money and was back from where she had left the two waiting for her return,she saw Mashora lifting up a stone and hit Muhlarera on the heard and the complainant fell down.
Mashora picked more stones and continued to pelt the complainant untill he fell unconscious.
He fled from the scene,before Muhlarera was rushed to a nearby clinic in a Wheelbarrow.
He was resuscitated at the clinic.He suffered a broken skull and right hand during the attack.
“I cant remember borrowing money from this man because he doesn’t stay in our area.We don’t even have any personal connections with the man that would have warranted me to borrow money from him.
When I asked him about this,he became furious and attacked me besides having accepted to pay him from airtime sales that my wife was doing at the township”, Muhlarera said.
Mashora pleaded guilty to the offence and is set to be sentenced on 26 October 2021.
